For almost two years, Chris Brown, 46, has been making photography part of his epic walks around Philly, capturing the nuances of the city’s street life, as well as its underbelly. The Upper Darby native has been inspired by both the elegant and gritty sides of neighborhoods like Fairmount, South Philly and Center City – and the fleeting moments he encounters with faceless strangers along the way.
“I’m inspired by everything from the beautiful architecture to the dirty, dumpster-lined alley ways,” he says, “to the shadowy underground.”
There’s a certain loneliness that inhabits many of his subjects in the creative corners of his world, but enough to make any true voyeur proud.
